Cheap flights to Christmas markets in Germany are available on low-cost airlines flying from London and other British and Irish cities. German low-cost airlines airberlin and Germanwings as well as British budget carriers Easyjet and bmi usually fly to the main and convenient airports in Germany while even Ryanair sometimes use airports within easy traveling distance of some of the most famous Christmas markets in Germany. Competition is the heaviest on cheap flights from the United Kingdom, especially London, to the German capital Berlin.

Cheap flights are readily available on various low-cost airlines from the UK to Berlin. The German capital is by far the most interesting city in Germany and claims to have more than hundred Christmas markets spread throughout the city.

Most low-cost airlines flying from Britain and Ireland to Berlin arrives at Berlin-Schönefeld (SXF) airport to the south of the city. From here it is an easy train ride to the center of Berlin. Airberlin and bmi fly to the more convenient Berlin-Tegel (TXL) airport, which is a short and cheap bus ride from the heart of Berlin.

Cheap Flights with Airberlin to Nürnberg and Düsseldorf

Cheap Flights with Ryanair to Christmas Markets in Germany

Low-cost airline Ryanair is famous for using inconvenient and small airports far away from the cities the airports may be named after. Ryanair’s preferred airports in Germany are no exception but in a few cases these airports are very convenient for visiting Christmas markets too.

Bremen Airport (BRE) is the third hub of Ryanair in Germany. Bremen Airport is famously close to Bremen city and a great choice when on a short break to visit a German Christmas market. Ryanair flies to Bremen from London-Stansted, Liverpool, and Edinburgh.

Tiny Lübeck-Blankensee (LBC) Airport, or Hamburg-Lübeck in Ryanair’s terminology, is not particularly convenient for traveling to Hamburg. However, Lübeck Airport is very close to the North German city Lübeck. Lübeck’s old town is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list and hosts a magical Christmas market in the heart of this town famous for its brick Gothic buildings.

Ryanair’s main hubs in Germany are Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) and Düsseldorf-Weeze (NRN). Both airports are very inconveniently located from the larger cities in the hyphenated names. However, several Christmas markets near Frankfurt-Hahn Airport may be worth the extra travel if the flights are cheap enough.
